Lilliput: A Photographic Travelogue
Lilliput is an interactive digital travelogue that reproduces the pleasantly disorienting feeling of extended overseas travel. The project derives its name from a fictional island in Gulliver’s Travels by Jonathan Swift. In Swift's tale, the island of Lilliput is at war with its neighboring island of Blefuscu over the proper end at which to crack an egg. This war is the source of the term endianness, the computer science convention for communication when information is broken into pieces for transmission and reassembled upon reception. Lilliput: A Photographic Travelogue attempts to produce meaning by assembling photographs and narrative memories in digital space.
